Hello Ghoulish R Ladies of Honolulu!

We’ve got not one, but TWO fang-tastically exciting events coming your way! ✨

First up, as the fall chills creep in and spooky season takes hold, we’re conjuring a special Halloween-themed event! For our third gathering, we’ll be working with a horror movie dataset from TidyTuesday’s archives - guaranteed to send shivers down your spine! Get ready to dive into the eerie world of data, conjuring up spooking visualizations and exploring frightful insights. It’s a great opportunity to hone your skills by asking questions, exploring the dataset, and casting your ggplot magic to create some hauntingly good graphs! 📊🎃

Whether you’re brewing up your first plot or you’re a seasoned witch casting data spells, ALL levels are welcome! Beginners can learn the basics of data exploration and visualization, while our data wizards can show off their scariest plots. 🧙‍♀️✨

🔮 RSVP by October 22st - and don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions!

🕸️When: October 23rd, 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm HST
🕷️ Where: Entrepreneur’s Sandbox

But wait, there’s more!

Our second event is a virtual meetup in collaboration with R-Ladies Santa Barbara! 🎉 On Wednesday, November 6th, from 4:00-5:30 PM HST, we’re hosting a Tips & Tricks session where you can share your magical R wisdom! Do you have a clever shortcut, a useful function, or a package that you can’t code without? We want to hear about it!

Help us make this event fun by submitting your tip or trick using our form. During the event, you’ll have the chance to present your slide (just 1-2 minutes), or if you prefer, one of our R-Ladies co-organizers can present for you!

🗓️When: November 6th, 4:00 - 5:30 pm HST
💻Where: Virtual (Zoom link will be shared with RSVP’d guests before hand)

Need inspiration? Check out the slides from R-Ladies SB’s last Tips and Tricks event - anything from R packages and functions to handy workflow tools is fair game!

We’re looking forward to seeing you in October and November - whether you’re creating spooky visuals or brewing up R tips, it’s going to be fun! Who knows you might just learn something good that you won’t be able to code without!

All the best,
Jayslen, Maddie, and Juliette
