For 196 years we have heard his side of the break up. Itʻs time that we heard her side. A contemporary retelling of Schumannʻs Dichterliebe; a gut wrenching look inside one manʻs relationship break-up with 4 new Hawaiian mele, commissioned by HI Arts Lab and sung by Pomaika'i Lyman, giving us the "she said."
Dichterliebe will be sung in German on the 18th and 20th, and in English on the 19th by Jamie Offenbach, with Marcus Quiniones interpreting through movement. Maikai Nash performs on the piano for both the German and Hawaiian songs, which are written and composed by L Anuenue Punua and Jace Saplan.
A small art exhibition is being hosted as well. Doors open at 7:00 PM on the 18th and 19th, and at 4:00 PM on the 20th.
