The founder of Hawaii's first NFT exchange, AlohaNFT, will share his journey, and explore the many opportunities NFTs provide for Hawaii.
About this event
Brought to you by the Digital Currency Innovation Lab (DCIL), "DCIL Presents:..." is a series of webinars and events designed to educate and raise awareness around virtual currencies.
NFTs (or “non-fungible tokens”) are a special kind of cryptoasset in which each token is unique — as opposed to “fungible” assets like Bitcoin and dollar bills, which are all worth exactly the same amount. Because every NFT is unique, they can be used to authenticate ownership of digital assets like artworks, recordings, and virtual real estate or pets.
For a good overview of NFTs, watch last month's DCIL Presents webinar on NFTs and the Future of Digital Creativity (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFVADwkHpxs).
Building upon that foundation, "NFTs for Hawaii Artists & Creatives" will focus on local trends and opportunities. Hear how one campaign raised over $80,000 for the #StopAAPIHate movement, and what it says about the potential for other Hawaii initiatives. The founder of Hawaii's first NFT exchange, AlohaNFT, will share his journey, and explore the many opportunities NFTs provide for Hawaii artists and creatives.
NFTs could help lay the groundwork for "Hawaii 2.0," where Hawaii's diversified economy is no longer reliant on tourism, supporting both a robust tech and creative sector.
Please register by Wednesday, 10/20 at 5pm. After registration closes, we will send a Zoom link to all registered participants. If you are unable to register, please contact Shane at info@sandboxhawaii.org to be added to the waitlist.
