About this event

Brought to you by the Digital Currency Innovation Lab (DCIL), "DCIL Presents:..." is a series of webinars and events designed to educate and raise awareness around virtual currencies.

Humans have been interacting with art since the beginning of our species’ history with the oldest pieces of art ever discovered dating back to approximately 700,000 BCE. As we evolve and adjust within a new digital era, art remains at the center of our society. However, the way that we interact with it, both as creators and admirers, will inevitably shift to met the demands of the new globalized, digital world. NFTs are leading this movement within the world of art and culture, introducing a never-before-known way to create, admire and own art and other digital goods. In this talk, Aisha Arif from MakersPlace, one of the earliest NFT art platforms, will explore the basics of NFTs - what they are, why they came to be and what it means for the future.

Aisha Arif is part of the early team at the pioneering NFT platform MakersPlace - the premier NFT marketplace for digital art. Through her role as Community Manager, Aisha excites and ignites the NFT community through identifying and addressing adoption roadblocks, organizing community events, and cultivating/supporting creativity within the digital art space. Through her work at MakersPlace, Aisha aims to bridge the gap between traditional fine art spaces, technology and the blossoming NFT movement as a means of empowering digital creativity for all.
