Code with Aloha - Second Monday Project Night

  • Entrepreneurs Sandbox 643 Ilalo Street Honolulu, HI, 96813 United States (map)

* This meeting will held in person at the Entrepreneur Sandbox: https://maps.app.goo.gl/krqDWhsB2c77gzmdA

Note: This is a work-oriented meeting. If this is your first time attending the group or are just checking it out, you might want to attend one of the Monthly Civic Tech Volunteer Intro, Onboarding, and Socializing meetings instead. While you are more than welcome to still show up at this meeting, the primary focus will be on doing work (limited onboarding).

Agenda
Come work on one of the projects the group is currently working on!

  • Hawaii Zoning Atlas - Interactive map showing how outdated zoning laws make it hard to build diverse, affordable housing in Hawaii

  • HIERR - A demographic survey wrapper around pol.is aimed to discover ways to make Hawaii's economy more resilient, sustainable, and equitable

  • UIPA - A forum to publicize FOIA record requests and replies so that others do not have to ask for the same information and replies can be scrutinized by the public

  • CodeWithAloha.org - Our very own website! 😍

Logistics
The meeting is at the Entrepreneur Sandbox - a coworking space located right next to the University of Hawaiʻi Cancer Center. Parking is available outside the building in the yellow stalls, or on the streets nearby. Once you get to the door, please knock (if it's not already open). MeetUp chat is notorious for not delivering notifications, so knocking at the door is the best way to get someone's attention. If that doesn't work, if you are in the parking lot facing the entrance door, you can walk to the right of that door to be right outside the room we are in and flag someone down from one of the windows.

Light snacks are typically provided at these meetings, so come and be surprised at whatever we bring :)

Overview
Code With Aloha (rebranded from Code for Hawaii) is a previous brigade of Code for America. Code With Aloha joined many other previous Code for America brigades in the Alliance of Civic Technologists. We are a volunteer group of developers, designers, project managers, and community members who gather to work on civic projects that help the community.

People of all skill levels and disciplines (coders and non-coders) are welcome to join us. Just show up and we'll brief you on our current project. We're eager to learn what you would like to work on and create opportunities to contribute to a project. This is a great opportunity to contribute to community-centered projects, learn new skills & practice current ones, and connect with others in the community!

We hope to see you at the next meeting!

This event is sponsored by HTDC, the Entrepreneur Sandbox, and Hub Coworking Hawaii.
