HI Tech Story

Introducing HITech Story Speaker Series with Special Guest Kevin Yu.

Kevin Yu attended the University of California at Berkeley's Haas School of Business and the University of Tokyo. While in Tokyo, he founded an internet-based trading company that arbitraged pricing differentials between the United States and Japan.

Mr. Yu joined PayPal Inc in 2004 to manage International Consumer Protections, and in 2006, he advocated for and led PayPal's expansion to Japan, culminating in PayPal's successful market-entry after the passage of the Electronic Money Transmission act by the Japanese Diet in 2009.

Following his lifelong passion for high-performance automobiles, Mr. Yu joined Tesla Motors in 2010 as head of Asia-Pacific to drive its entry into Japan, Hong Kong, Australia and Singapore. By 2015, the Tesla Model S was the best-selling sedan of any type - gas or electric - in Hong Kong.

Mr. Yu retired from Tesla in 2015 to focus on investing in the next generation of entrepreneurs. He strongly believes that hard work and ingenuity can overcome the most challenging problems of our time, while enhancing and not compromising our standard of living.

HITech Story is a monthly speaker series that provides the opportunity to interact with and learn from successful leaders and guest lecturers from some of Silicon Valley's top tech companies.

Each month, the HITech Story Speaker Series will provide an inclusive and interactive environment for attendees to "talk story" with high-level professionals in an intimate setting and network with the local business community. Events will include a presentation by the guest lecturer, followed by a Q&A and light pupus and refreshments.

Events for the series take place at Entrepreneurs Sandbox at 6 pm on the third Thursday of every month unless otherwise noted.

The series is always free and open to the public though RSVPs are required to save you a seat.
